UWAGA: ZWIEDZANIE KUCHNI RZĄDZI SIĘ INNYMI PRAWAMI NIŻ ZWIEDZANIE DWÓCH PIERWSZYCH PIĘTER. Wybudowany w XIV wieku przez rodzinę Davizzich (handlarzy wełną) pokazuje rozwiązania inżynieryjne, które w XIV wieku były wybitnie nowatorskie: toalety na każdym piętrze z pionowym, wbudowanym w mury systemem sanitarnym ze spłuczkami i zsypami odprowadzającymi ścieki do podziemnych szamb, system otworów i lin z bloczkami pozwalający wciągać wiadra z czystą wodą pobieraną ze studni na dziedzińcu, wewnętrzny domofon i winda towarowa, zamaskowane otwory (otwory mordercze) przez które obrońcy mogli się bronić przez napastnikami, który sforsowaliby drzwi i dostali się na dziedziniec, kuchnia na ostatnim piętrze, co zmniejszało ryzyko śmierci w pożarze i likwidowało problem ciężkich zapachów. Sala Papagalli ma ściany pokryte freskiem imitującym drogie, bordowe kotary, na których namalowano dziesiątki małych, egzotycznych papug będących symbolem bogactwa i kontaktów handlowych ze Wschodem. Camere nuziali: w głównej sypialni, w górnym fryzie ściany, znajduje się unikalna opowieść freskowa o Kasztelance z Vergy. Tragiczna opowieść o sekretnej miłości, zdradzie tajemnicy, intrygach zazdrosnej księżnej i masowym samobójstwie kochanków. Miało to być ostrzeżenie moralne dla nowożeńców. Pod koniec XIX wieku pałac popadł w kompletną ruinę i został podzielony na tanie, nędzne mieszkania czynszowe, tracąc swój dawny blask. W 1904 roku budynek zakupił Elia Volpi, który przeprowadził drobiazgową renowację pałacu, odkupił oryginalne, renesansowe meble, łóżka, skrzynie posagowe (cassoni), stare naczynia kuchenne otwierając w 1910 roku pierwsze we Włoszech prywatne muzeum wnętrz.

Personally I like the top floor the most, there are a big collection of lace and embroidery. It is better to take a look at each drawer as well, they also displayed the archive as well. Recommended to take a lift to upper floor and then you come down along the way is much easy to oversee the whole building.

I rarely grant a place my highest recommendation, but Palazzo Davanzati has effortlessly claimed the top spot on my list. Stepping inside is like stepping through a portal. The atmosphere is so vivid, it feels as though condottieri, noble ladies, and dukes are about to walk through the doors at any moment. It is an absolute time machine. For fellow devotees of Medieval and early Renaissance history, and anyone captivated by the grand drama of The Borgias, The Medici, Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, or the War of the Roses, this palace is an absolute sanctuary. What makes this museum truly exceptional is its sprawling, multi-story layout. When we visited, we had the grand rooms almost entirely to ourselves, making this immaculate monument feel like our own private, hidden discovery. It may not have the crushing crowds of Florence's major hotspots, but it is preserved with the utmost care and reverence. Do not miss it. The exact magic of Palazzo Davanzati, that rare, eerie and thrilling feeling that the original residents just stepped out of the room for a moment.
